 Friday Enrichment Program at Canton Homeschool Resources

Fall 2018, CHR has an exciting new program schedule planned for homeschool students in grades K-6th. Our fun Fridays will enhance students’ learning by engaging them a variety of active learning experiences, all led by certified teachers or appropriately degreed professionals. Class offerings are; French, STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Mathematics), Creative Writing and Word Games, Math Games, Fitness Fun, and Educational Games and Crafts. Classes will be held from 9:00am-1:30pm. Students that are staying for all classes should bring their lunch, drink, and/or a snack. Non-Hybrid Student Friday Enrichment Program Registration, Supply Fee, and Tuition-

Credit, debit card, and online payments are shown below as 3% higher than payments made by cash or check, due to processing fees.

Cash/check registration fee is $50 or $51.50 if paid by credit/debit card/online.

 

Cash/check payment for the supply fee is $100 for full day program (4 classes) or $103 if paid by credit/debit card/online.  

Cash/Check tuition payment for non-hybrid student full day (4 classes) is $1,550 a school year or $155 per month for 10 months. Credit/debit card/online tuition payment is $1,596.50 a school year or $159.65 for 10 months.

For individual classes, the supply fee is $30 per class paid by cash/check or if paid credit/debit card/online it is $30.90. 

The individual classes tuition is $50 per class monthly ($500 a school year) paid by cash/check, or $51.50 per month 

($515 per school year) if paid by credit/debit card/online. There is no sibling discount for individual classes.

Non-Hybrid Students with Sibling Discount Friday Enrichment Program Registration, Supply Fee, and Tuition Rates-

Cash/check registration fee is $50 or $51.50 if paid by credit card/debit card/online.

 Cash/check payment supply fee is $100 for full day program (4 classes) or $103 if paid by credit/debit card/online.

Cash/check payment with non-hybrid siblings’ discount for full day program (4 classes) is $1050 per school year or 10 monthly payments of $105. Credit/debit/online tuition payment is $1081.50 per school year or 10 monthly payments of $108.15.

Cash/check payment for third and subsequent siblings are $65 for 10 months for 10 months or $650 a school year for 4 classes.  Credit/debit card/online payment is $66.90 for 10 months or $669 a schoolyear.

 Class Descriptions for Friday Enrichment Spring Semester 2018

ART Masterpieces

Students will create their own masterpieces while experimenting with art principles and elements alongside learning the history and culture of many famous artists. Various mediums will be used to create works of art such as, but not limited to, clay, paint, plaster, stencils, papier-mâché, watercolors, and oil pastels. 

Creative Writing & Word Games
Students at all levels will greatly enjoy reading high-interest, age appropriate materials as they create their own unique stories, poetry, and nonfiction writings. They will learn the writing process, story elements, and improve their reading and writing skills at all levels. Students will play a variety of creative games and activities to enhance their reading and writing understandings. For K-2nd grade students, hands-on activities will be based on phonics, sight words, and fun with poetry, short stories, and creative writing.  Students in grades 3rd-6th students’ activities will include word analysis, literary devices, poems, short stories, reading for meaning, and creative writing. 

Fitness Fun
Students will have super active fun- moving, stretching, mastering self-made obstacle courses and circuit routines, playing organized games, and even learning some yoga and dance moves.

Math and Numbers Games
Students will play a large variety of skill level appropriate games and activities to enhance their number sense, mathematical understandings, and mental math skills. For K-2nd grade students hands-on activities will teach and practice skills such as, but not limited to, telling time, addition & subtraction, money, measurement, shapes, and beginning multiplication and division. Third to sixth grade students’ activities will include, but are not limited to place value, multiplication, division, fractions, and geometry.

Fun French

Using songs, crafts, games, reading, writing, listening, speaking, and other fun activities French students will explore the 5 C’s of foreign language education: Communication, Culture, Connections, Comparisons, and Community. Students will learn basic phrases, vocabulary, and conversational French.

STEAM

     Students will learn new skills and principles while engaging in age appropriate, hands-on activities to implement Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematic fundamentals.  While having fun, students will be enhancing their creative thinking, problem solving, and team building skills. Some examples of activities are learning about buoyance by building a boat, experimenting with alternate forms of energy by making solar ovens and wind powered cars, constructing a Ferris wheel using Legos robotics and programming its movement.

Brain Games and Educational Crafts

In this class, students will enjoy playing games and extra socializing with their friends while participating in a multitude of non-electronic games and activities such as Scrabble, Battleship, Headbands, Chess, trivia, and making crafts based on the holidays and seasons.
